Case Study: Fueling a Renovation Fundraiser for Platinum Plush Fashions
Updated: 4 days ago

Who Is Platinum Plush Fashions
Founded and led by Nikita Mathis, Platinum Plush Fashions is owned by a Black woman who employs and trains individuals - especially youth from the community - to become business-minded and pursue their own entrepreneurial dreams in retail fashion. In 2021, Nikita launched "Fashionology 101," a program giving women around the world access to industry knowledge, events, and private trade shows. Platinum Plush has sponsored and hosted numerous family and community events over the years and remains a popular shopping destination and neighborhood pillar in SE Seattle.
The Challenge
After more than two decades in business, Platinum Plush set out to complete a full interior redesign of its storefront. To fund the renovation, Nikita wanted to launch a fundraising campaign - but needed help structuring donation tiers, choosing the right platform, and building out marketing and social media content to support the effort.
What King's Dream Delivered
Fundraising strategy, including researched platform recommendations and tiered donation-level structuring (with perks like shopping credit and branded swag)
A detailed social media plan to support the renovation fundraiser
Guidance and coaching throughout the planning process, with direct feedback at each step
The Takeaway
King's Dream's own project notes summed it up: the client was receptive to advice and feedback, with overall satisfaction with deliverables - and the social media plan in particular was called out as detailed and well-received. For a business built on community roots and mentorship, that kind of hands-on support behind the scenes helps keep a local institution thriving for the next 22 years.
